ITC Drivers together with MacOS 10.11 or 10.12
Question:
When using the available MacOS drivers for the ITC-16, USB-16, ITC-18, USB-18 and ITC-1600 an error like this might occur (MacOS 10.11 or more recent):
"An error occured: 71 Requesting load of /System/Library/Extensions/ITC_Driver.kext. /System/Library/Extensions/ITC_Drivers.kext failted to load - (libkern/kext) not loadable (reason unspecified); check the system/kernel logs for errors or try kextutil (8)."
Answer:
This is a problem with the System Integrity Protection of Apple which does not allow 3rd party access to certain folders. Try to disable this protection temporarily, install the drivers and enable the protection afterwards again.
How to turn off System Integrity Protection?
1. Restart your Mac.
2. Before OS X starts up, hold down "Command-R" and keep it held down until you see an "Apple" icon and a progress bar. Release. This boots you into Recovery mode.
3. From the Utilities menu (task list on the upper left corner of the screen), select "Terminal". At the prompt type exactly the following:
"csrutil disable" and press "Return".
5. The Terminal should display a message that the System Integrity Protection was disabled.
6. From the "?" menu, select "Restart".
7. Copy the downloaded file "HEKA-Driver_Installer.dmg" to your desktop.
8. Double-click on the *.dmg file to mount it.
9. Open the Terminal (Utilities).
10. To enter the correct path please type:
"cd /Volumes/HEKA-Driver_Installer/Install_HEKA-Drivers.app/Contents" and press "Return".
11. Type "sudo ./applet" and press "Return". When using MacOS 10.12.6 you need to type "sudo ./MacOS/applet"
12. The installation process should now proceed without any error messages.
You can re-enable the System Integrity Protection by repeating the steps 1-6, but using instead the command "csrutil enable".
