Segment Current too large, maximum is: + 1.027 nA
Question:
I want to evoke Action Potentials. When increasing the stimulation current in the PGF larger than 1 nA I get the following error message:
"Segment Current too large, maximum is: + 1.027 nA."
Is it possible to inject more than 1 nA of current with my EPC 10 amplifier? If yes, how can I do that?
Answer:
By default the CC-Gain of the PATCHMASTER software is set to "0.1 pA/mV" which allows a maximum injection/stimulation current of 1 nA.
To change this please open the Amplifier Window of PATCHMASTER and press the "Show All" tab. On the right side you will now see a selection field labeled "CC-Gain: 0.1 pA/mV". Click on it and you will see which CC-Gain ranges are available for your EPC 10 amplifier.
The following CC-Gain ranges are listed:
0.1 pA/mV -> 1 nA
1 pA/mV -> 10 nA
10 pA/mV -> 100 nA
100 pA/mV -> 1000 nA
Which current injection ranges are technically available is checked by the PATCHMASTER software automatically.
