Field potential recordings with EPC 10 amplifier
Question:
I am using an EPC 10 amplifier with PATCHMASTER. Is it possible to record population responses (fEPSP)?
Answer:
Yes, such potential changes can be measured with the EPC 10 in Current Clamp mode. Since these potential deflections usually are pretty small, it might be necessary to amplify the voltage signal before it is digitized. With newer EPC 10 amplifiers, the voltage signal can be amplified internally: Please click on "Show All" in the amplifier dialog and look for a control that is labeled "V-mon * 10". Please try to switch to "Vmon * 100". If this option is disabled, then it is not supported by your hardware. Then you will have to use an external amplifier that is connected between the voltage monitor output and an AD input of your amplifier.
